Up for Adoption! - Joe Dog!

Joe is a real sweetheart. He's been staying with us for awhile after his parents couldn't take him with when they moved. He's 9 years old, but with energy of a dog much younger - he loves playing fetch (100% Yellow Lab) or just getting attention by the couch. You do have to watch him with food though, as he'll steal anything he can get his mouth on if you're not watching :) Let us know if you're interested in trying Joe out for a weekend or something. He does good with all other animals (and does good in daycare) and children. He's just looking for someone who has a little more free time than us.

Wheat Ridge Dog Park

A new off leash dog park opened up here in Wheat Ridge.

Located at Fruitdale Park, 4700 Miller St.

A very large, 2 acre space with lots of room to run.

There's a large and small dog area with separate gates.

All in all, it's a nice, clean space with friendly pups.

I'm sure you've seen the garden out back when you drop off your pups at daycare. We wanted to learn how to garden and lucky for us we found Barb who started up Harvest Mountain Farm Garden. She has been working tirelessly setting up community gardens, CSAs and farms to bring about policy change regarding urban gardening and farming.

CSA bags are available for $15 a week and the produce from our garden plus others is available at various farmer's markets. Hopefully next year we can have a produce booth operating right here on our little acre.

We try and do at least a half hour or so of this a day - get just the small dogs inside and let them run around without having to worry about the larger dogs getting in the way. Some of them act exactly the same as they do the rest of the day, but others really seem to get excited by it :)

Teeth Cleaning Day!

The friendly folks from the Well Animal Institute were here today doing teeth cleanings - without anesthesia. Everyone was asking "How do they do it?" Well, here's some pics (more on their website - including a video)

We strongly recommend these guys! We were blown away by how clean our dogs teeth got - all without the potential complications of anesthesia (Noel took a long time to recover last time). We'll see if we can get enough interest to have them by again in 6'ish months.

Full disclosure - we're getting our dachshunds teeth cleaned this way - when we did the cleaning last time (with anesthesia) it took them a long time to recover. We haven't done it before, but the pictures and testimonials look encouraging!

It was a pretty crazy Friday - lots of playful pups... Everyone seemed to have their regular favorite here today though - so we had lots of 1-on-1 playtime. First off, Lily and Bart - definitely best buds.
